Dividing God

When there is only one true God and one truth why is there so many different denominations?  The only answer is because of human pride, arrogance and denial of God’s truth.  This compromises God’s work and leads us not closer to God and his will, but further away from God and his will. There are literally hundreds of ways we do this daily and it’s mainly because we don’t read his word.

Too many people sit in church on Sunday and listen to their preacher without ever taking out the Bible to check the accuracy of the sermon.  I have heard many times the comment, “well the preacher said it, so it must be true” or “that’s not how we interpret it”!  These are two ways of saying “I’m too lazy to look it up“and “I don’t want to do that because of my human pride, arrogance and denial of God’s truth”. This has nothing to do with how you worship, if you praise God standing on you head, as long as it is sincere and from your heart that is what matters.  What we are talking about is the unalienable truth the Bible has, that we try and change because it offends us.  I would be more worried about offending God if I were you.  I am going to point out some of these truths and please look up the verses in the Bible and if you’re still offended, your master may not be God.

First, does God make mistakes?  Of course the answer is no.  Is every one of our lives a blessing?  Of course the answer is yes.  Than why do you have people who claim to be Christians, supporting abortion?  The sad truth is their pride.  (Num. 35:30 Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: Gen. 9:6 15 Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man, Ex 23:7 "Keep yourself far from a false matter; do not kill the innocent and righteous. For I will not justify the wicked 8.  "And you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the discerning and perverts the words of the righteous. Deu 19:10.  "lest innocent blood be shed in the midst of your land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, and thus bloodguiltiness be upon you. Deu 21:9.  "So you shall put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you when you do what is right in the sight of the Lord. Deu 27:25.  `Cursed is the one who takes a bribe to slay an innocent person.' And all the people shall say, `Amen!' Pro 6: 16. These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: 17.  A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18.  a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, 19.  a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren. Is 59:7.  Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths. Jer 22: 16.  He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well. Was not this knowing Me?'' says the Lord. 17.  "Yet your eyes and your heart are for nothing but your covetousness, for shedding innocent blood, and practicing oppression and violence.'' Of course some out there will say something like, “well that Old Testament and the Law we are no longer under, not the New Testament” for them “Matt 5: 17.  "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.”  This is only one of many examples. Remember that God is never changing.

I will give one more example sense both of these are highly debated in the church today. How about talking about homosexuality? Can you be an active homosexual and preacher for God? (Lev 18: 22. You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. Lev 20: 13.  `If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them. Rom 1: 22.  Professing to be wise, they became fools 23. and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man and birds and four-footed beasts and creeping things. 24.  Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25.  who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26.  For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27.  Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. 28.  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29.  being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30.  backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31.  undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32.  who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.) This comes from New and Old Testaments so there should be no confusion, its wrong!  Of course every time someone says that they are called a “homophobic” or worse. I have nothing against homosexuals personally but the ones who wear it on their chest as a badge of honor are lost and condemned.  These are just two examples of “Christians & Christianity” gone badly.

There are too many examples to point out but the bottom line is, are you following God’s truth or skewing his truth to make yourself more comfortable because you don’t want to face the truth? You can see this in churches that take a single verse for their point instead of the whole paragraph to keep the verse in context because it doesn’t fit their doctrine. I have seen these churches on both the far liberal side and in some cases the far conservative side.  Don’t read what’s not there, I am a very conservative person but some people, churches, denominations, and preachers preach what is not there. For instance, I was told at one church if you didn’t speak in tongues you’re not saved.  If this is true why did God make it the lesser of all gifts? Jesus does say what we should believe “Jer 9:3.  "And like their bow they have bent their tongues for lies. They are not valiant for the truth on the earth. For they proceed from evil to evil, and they do not know Me,'' says the Lord.” You have many preachers saying that the wine in the Bible is actually grape juice. If this was true than how did Noah become drunk off grape juice “Gen 9: 20.  And Noah began to be a farmer, and he planted a vineyard.  21. Then he drank of the wine and was drunk, and became uncovered in his tent.” These people are perverting the Bible and usually become very angry when you point it out, but the Bible does say don’t become drunken “Luke 21: 34.  But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. Rom 13: 13.  Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in licentiousness and lewdness, not in strife and envy and Gal 5: 19.  Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, licentiousness, 20. idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21.  envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”.  This is not saying for everyone to start drinking.  If you have a conviction not to drink, don’t!

I will give you one last example that I saw. A gentleman walked into the church I was visiting and was wearing sandals when he was stopped by the preacher who told him, “we would prefer it if you wear shoes here”. The man promptly answered without delay saying, “Sandals were good enough for Jesus, are they not good enough for you?”  The preacher didn’t know what to say and the sermon that day was about using the Bible to discern man’s standards from God’s.  We as Christian people need to start coming back together as one church and do God’s will, there is nothing wrong with having different ways to worship but there is only one God and his word is never changing.  What do you think?
